Rodrigo Seabra was in great shape at the start of the German championship ADAC Kart Masters, in the OK Junior category last weekend, April 22-24 in Wackersdorf. The Portuguese driver demonstrated his excellent adaptation to the OK Junior category during the weekend, which is the most professional and competitive karting category in Europe and where drivers between 12 and 16 years of age compete in this championship.
Rodrigo actually started the weekend on the Saturday because he attended the annual convention of Remax Portugal on Friday 22nd in the Algarve, where he was officially presented to the company as a Remax Driver. Thus, Rodrigo traveled on Friday night to Germany, and went straight to qualifying on Saturday, on a track he was totally unfamiliar with. Rodrigo adapted very fast to the track and finished the qualifying practice in 13th place, trying in the race heats to do the best possible performance to get the best starting places for Sunday's finals.
Under very difficult weather conditions that arrived on Sunday, which constantly alternated between rain and sun, Rodrigo Seabra, started in 18th position for race 1 and finished in a fantastic P5 where he wowed the crowds with incredible overtakings. In the 2nd final, the Portuguese driver achieved a brilliant P3, always with the fastest lap and with constant fights in the front group, getting his first podium of the ADAC Kart Masters journey.
Rodrigo, the youngest driver in the class, got the 4th place in the overall classification and is now leading the ADAC "Rookies" championship. It’s worth noting that the Remax driver also leads in the OKJ Rookies category, the other championship that he is participating in, the DKM, and he is in 7th place overall. - "This weekend was physically very exhausting. We arrived in Germany in the early hours of Saturday morning at 3:00 a.m. and I had to be on the track by 8:00 a.m. I had never trained here before, it was all new for me. I arrived and went straight to the practices with an 8-minute warm up! I had very strong older drivers than me, some almost 16 years old, and all of them wanted to win. I am very proud because I was always very focused and my team helped me a lot to get the best out of myself in such a short time" - said the Portuguese driver.
The next stop will be the second race of the OK Junior category of the ADAC Kart Masters Championship on May 28th and 29th in Ampfing, Germany
Rodrigo Seabra no pódio do Campeonato Alemão
Rodrigo Seabra esteve em grande plano no arranque do campeonato Alemão ADACKartMasters, na categoria OK Júnior, no passado fim-de-semana de 22 a 24 de Abril, em Wakersdorf. O piloto português demonstrou durante o fim-de-semana a sua excelente adaptação à categoria OK Júnior, que é a categoria mais profissional e competitiva do karting na Europa e onde competem pilotos entre os 12 e os 16 anos de idade.
Rodrigo iniciou o fim-de-semana de corrida apenas no Sábado dia 23, por ter estado presente na convenção anual da Remax Portugal sexta-feira dia 22 no Algarve, onde foi apresentado oficialmente à rede como Piloto Remax. Desta forma, Rodrigo viajou na sexta-feira à noite para a Alemanha, tendo assim ido direto para a qualificação no sábado, numa pista que desconhecia totalmente.
Rodrigo adaptou-se muito rápido à pista e terminou os treinos cronometrados no décimo terceiro lugar, tentando nas heats de corrida fazer a melhor prestação possível para obter os melhores lugares de saída para as finais de domingo.
Sobe condições climatéricas muito difíceis que se fizeram sentir no domingo, que alternaram constantemente entre chuva e sol, Rodrigo Seabra, saiu da 18a posição para a corrida 1 e terminou num fantástico P5 onde brindou o público com incríveis ultrapassagens. Na final 2, o piloto Português alcançou um brilhante P3, sempre com a volta mais rápida e com constantes lutas no grupo da frente, subindo ao pódio da primeira jornada ADACKartMasters.
Rodrigo, o piloto mais novo do pelotão destacou-se soma pontos. Encontra-se no 4 Lugar da classificação à geral e a liderar o campeonato "Rookies" do ADAC. De destacar que o piloto Maiato também lidera na categoria OKJRookies o outro campeonato que está a participar, o DKM, e está em 7 classificado à geral. - "Este fim-de-semana foi fisicamente muito desgastante. Chegamos à Alemanha na madrugada de sábado eram 3h da manhã e tive que estar em pista ás 8h. Nunca tinha treinado aqui, foi total novidade. Foi chegar e ir directo para os treinos cronometrados com um warmup de 8 min! Tive adversários muito fortes e mais velhos, alguns quase com 16 anos, todos eles com muita vontade de ganhar. Estou muito orgulhoso pois tive sempre muito concentrado e a minha equipa ajudou-me muito a tirar o melhor partido da corrida em tão pouco tempo” - disse o piloto Português.
A próxima paragem será a segunda prova da categoria OK Júnior da ADAC Kart MastersChampionship, dias 28 e 29 de Maio em Ampfing, na Alemanha.
