The second ADAC Kart Masters event for the OK Junior category took place last weekend on 27th to the 29th of May, in Ampfing, Munich.
The only Portuguese driver of the Event, managed to grab very good points for the championship. In Friday's free practice, Rodrigo was in great shape at the start of the racing weekend, always among the three fastest riders in a category where drivers between 12 and 16 years of age compete in this championship.
Rodrigo adapted very fast to the track and finished get a confirmation of the excellent performance with a second place in the warm up and a qualifying practice in 3rd place overall.
On a very technically, difficult and physically demanding track, the driver sponsored by Remax Portugal competed in both race heats, starting from the second row of the starting grid.
Rodrigo finished 3rd in Heat 1 and 4th in Heat 2, getting a P4 final ranking thus a good starting place for Sunday's finals. Rodrigo, with just 11 years old and the youngest driver in OJK competition, stood out once again on Sunday with a 5th place, but he didn't have the chance to fight for the podium as a race incident in Final 2 left him out of track.
The driver got good points for this championship with a 4th place in the overall classification and is now leading the ADAC "Rookies". It’s worth noting that the Remax driver also leads in the OKJ Rookies category, the other championship that he is participating in, the DKM, and he is in 7th place overall. This important results in a weekend that did not have the expected outcome but that mirror Rodrigo's ambitions - "This weekend was very intense. I had a good performance on Friday free practice and managed to have excellent rankings in the race heats. I had very strong opponents once again but a race incident in final 2 left me with no chance to fight once more for the podium” - said the Portuguese driver.
The next stop will be the second race of the DKM - Deutsche Kart Meisterschaft, 10th to the 12th of June at the international track of Genk - “home of champions”, in Belgium, where Rodrigo will try once again keep the high level of performance.

A segunda prova do ADAC Kart Masters, na categoria OK Júnior, decorreu no passado fim-de-semana de 27 a 29 de Maio, em Ampfing, Munique.
O único representante português do Evento, conseguiu somar bons pontos para o campeonato. Nos treinos livres de sexta, Rodrigo esteve sempre entre os tres pilotos mais rápidos, na categoria OKJunior, dos 11 aos 16 anos. Sábado confirmou a excelente performance com um segundo lugar no warm up e qualificou-se em terceiro lugar à geral.
Numa pista técnicamente difícil e fisicamente muito exigente, o piloto da Remax Portugal disputou as duas heats de corrida, partindo da segunda linha da grelha de partida. Rodrigo terminou no terceiro lugar na Heat 1 e em quarto lugar na Heat 2, obtendo um ranking final de P4 e assim um bom lugar de saída para as duas finais de domingo.
Rodrigo, com apenas 11 anos e o piloto mais novo do pelotão, destacou-se uma vez mais no dia de domingo com um quinto lugar, porém não teve hipótese de lutar pelo pódio pois um incidente de corrida na Final 2 deixou-o fora.
O atleta natural da Maia segue e soma pontos. Encontra-se em 4 Lugar da classificação à geral e continua a liderar o ranking "Rookies" do ADAC kart Masters, resultados importantes num fim-de-semana que não teve o desfecho esperado mas que espelham as ambições de Rodrigo - "Este fim-de-semana foi muito intenso. Tive um excelente andamento toda a sexta feira de treinos livres e consegui ter excelentes classificações nas heats de corrida. Tive mais uma vez adversários muito fortes mas um toque na final 2 deixou-me sem hipótese de lutar uma vez mais pelo pódio” - disse o piloto Português.
A próxima paragem será a segunda prova do DKM - Deutsche Kart Meisterschaft, na categoria OK Júnior, dias 10 a 12 de junho na emblemática pista internacional de Genk, na Bélgica, onde Rodrigo irá procurar mais uma vez demostrar o alto nível onde se encontra.
